COMMON QUERIES WITH DIMMERS

ISSUE CAUSE SOLUTION
LED on unit is not lit
  • No load is connected to the primary/master 1 channel or the lamp has failed
  • LED has stopped working

  • Ensure there is a load (lamps installed) on the primary/master 1 circuit
  • You can connect the neutral wire if you do not with to have a load on the primary channel
  • Seek replacement if faulty
LED flashes red when trying to put into pairing mode
  • Memory is full
Lights are flickering at all dim levels
  • Incompatible lamps
  • Insufficient load on the circuit
  • Increase wattage on the circuit and see if flickering stops
  • Choose lamps from our compatibility chart that we have tested - LED Compatibility Charts
  • Connect a neutral (L21MK2, L22MK2, L23 and L24 only)
  • Ensure lamps are dimmable - if non dimmable please follow the link on How to control non dimmable lights
Lights are flickering at maximum brightness
  • Calibration value too high
Lights stay on glowing when dimmer is red (off)
  • Incompatible lamps
  • Insufficient load on the circuit
  • Increase wattage on the circuit and see if flickering stops (resistive load or higher wattage lamps)
  • Connect a neutral (L21MK2, L22MK2, L23 and L24 only)
  • Ensure the lamps are compatible with the dimmer - LED Compatibility Charts
Lights flicker/pulse unless both channels are on (L22MK2, L23 and L24 only)
  • Voltage imbalance
  • Ensure there is not a mains LIVE wire in the any other channel other than the LIVE terminal, only provide power to the primary channel (no need to bridge)
  • Connect a neutral if available
  • Fit active load balancer on primary channel (this would be fitted across the light fitting of the lamp that is wired to the first/primary gang of the dimmer) - Load Stabiliser
Dimmer restarts and flashes green/white
  • Upper calibration value too high
  • Multiway switching wiring incorrect
  • Voltage imbalance across multiway switching
  • Perform manual calibration - Add dimmer to the app and reduce upper calibration value  - How to calibrate the dimmer
  • For multiway switching, install as a one-way switch and group wirelessly
  • Connect a neutral (L21MK2, L22MK2, L23 and L24 only)
  • Check wiring diagrams - Wiring Diagrams
Lights take a while to dim after holding the button
  • Upper calibration value too high
  • Type of lamps used
  • Dimmer is grouped to another dimmer and therefore dimming is happening via an automation
  • There is a deliberate slow start on the dimmer (dims exponentially)
  • Adjust Dimming Speed in app
  • Add dimmer to the app and reduce upper calibration value - How to calibrate the dimmer
  • Check to see if the dimmer channel is the 'slave' of a two-way switching setup - if so, the dim level will only be applied when the dimmer button is released

Dim level of the lights reduces to 20% and dimmer LED flashes red slowly
  • Excessive load on the circuit
  • Incompatible lamps
  • Check that the total load connected to the dimmer (wattage and quantity of lamps) is suitable
  • Change to alternative lamps or ones that we have tested - LED Compatibility Charts
