What do the LED colours indicate on the front of the dimmer?
This article explains the meaning behind the LED status light colours found on the front of Lightwave dimmer switches. These lights provide important feedback about the device’s status during normal use, setup, and in response to any issues or alerts. Recognising these indicators helps ensure correct installation, seamless pairing, and effective troubleshooting of your Lightwave dimmers.
Lightwave Smart Dimmers use an LED light on the front of them to display their current state. These LED colours and patterns help users quickly understand what the device is doing or alert them to any issues.
🔵 Solid Blue – Dimmer ON
The dimmer is switched on and actively powering the connected lighting.
📌 Note: This colour cannot be changed by the user.
🔴 Solid Red – Dimmer OFF
The dimmer is powered but currently switched off.
🎨 Note: This colour can be changed by the user via the Lightwave app.
🔴🔵 Flashing Red and Blue – Pairing Mode
The dimmer is in pairing mode and ready to connect to the Lightwave app or Link Plus hub.
⏱️ Note: Pairing mode usually lasts for around 10 seconds.
🔵 Flashing Blue – Successful Pairing
The dimmer has successfully paired with the Link Plus hub.
✅ You’re good to go!
🔴 Flashing Red – Memory Full
The dimmer’s memory is full and cannot store more connections.
🧹 Note: Master Reset the device to resolve this issue. (ONLY IF THE DEVICE IS DISPLAYING ERROR SENDING COMMAND IN THE APP)
🟢⚪ Flashing Green and White – Auto Calibration
The dimmer is automatically adjusting to find the best dimming range for your lamps.
🛠️ Note: This happens when the dimmer is powered on for the first time
🟢🟣 Flashing Green and Purple – Calibration Failed
Auto calibration didn’t complete successfully.

💠✨ Flashing Light Blue – Firmware Updating
Firmware is being updated.
📲 Note: This is initiated through the app and takes approximately 4 minutes.
🔴➡️🟢➡️⚫ Static Red to Green to Off – Firmware Update Failed
The dimmer attempted a firmware update but failed.
🔧 Fix: Power off the mains at the consumer unit and restart the dimmer.
