Why does my dimmer flash red when I put it into pairing mode?

This article explains what to do if your Lightwave Dimmer (LP21,LP22,LP23,LP24,LP51,LP52,LP53,LP54) flashes red, when placed into pairing mode.

When entering pairing mode on your Lightwave dimmer, the expected LED behaviour is alternating blue and red flashes. This confirms the dimmer is ready to be paired with the Lightwave app.

Issue: Red Flash Only

If your dimmer only flashes red after holding both the UP and DOWN buttons, this indicates that the memory is full. In most cases, this means the device has already been paired with the Lightwave app.

What This Means

  • The dimmer may already be paired to the app and is working, please check all of your rooms for the dimmer in the app, as you probably don't need to do anything (Sometimes a device can pair into the first room on your rooms list, if the pairing procedure is skipped in the app)

  • It has likely been paired previously and now requires clearing or a hard reset.

⚠️ Important: Do not perform a memory clear/reset until the dimmer has been successfully deleted from the Lightwave app. This ensures the system recognises the removal and prevents further connectivity issues.

Solution: Clear the Device Memory by performing a Master Reset

To proceed, follow the device clearing/reset procedure provided in our support documentation. This step will:

  • Erase all stored pairings

  • Return the dimmer to a factory-pairable state

  • You can find the master reset article here
