This indicates that something on the local network is preventing the communication between the Link / Link Plus and the internet.
Take a look at our troubleshooting below for details on what could be causing this problem.
You must make sure that the Link is connected directly into your main router and not via a Switch or Extender.
The Lightwave Link unit does not have any network changing abilities and it simply is assigned an IP by the DHCP service your router will run (if no IP is assigned, it will take 192.168.1.101). It does operate using 10Mbps connectivity which has in rare instances caused issue with connectivity as some ports of 100Mbps or 1Gbps have had issues with this.
The Link won't set up ports, so to speak, but it will communicate to the server outbound on ports 69, 2003, 2011 and 2013 using UDP protocol, and communicate to the app on the local network on ports 9760 and 9761 on UDP protocol also (via a broadcast to 255.255.255.255).
Sometimes we will recommend port forwarding ports 69, 2011 and 2013 on the UDP protocol. This can look like the following:
Start port: 69 End port: 69
Start port: 2011 End port: 2011
Start port: 2013 End port: 2013
Protocol: UDP
The Link has no ability to choose its own IP address, it is based on the router/DHCP setup. Many users are able to choose the local IP address via their router so there is not an issue with the Link units software. It will default to 192.168.1.101 when no network or DHCP is possible, but aside from this, all networking is handled external of the device; the Link could not choose its own. There may be a setting in the router which is affecting this, but if the IP address is .2, then this is indicating the Link can connect to the network, and is picking up this IP address (rightly or wrongly) based on the routers instruction.
