# How to Change the Email Address on your Lightwave Account
## This article provides a step-by-step guide to changing the email address associated with your Lightwave account directly within the Lightwave app.
If you need to update the email address linked to your Lightwave account, you can now make this change directly within the app. There is no need to transfer ownership or re-pair your Lightwave devices. Follow the steps below to update your email address.

### 📧 How to Change Your Email Address
1. Open the **Lightwave app** and make sure you are signed in to the correct account.
2. Go to **Settings**.
3. Select **Account**.
4. Tap **Email Address**.
5. Select on **your new email address** and enter the **new email address** you would like to use.
6. Select **Update Email**.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to **confirm and save** your new email address.

### ✅ What Happens to My Lightwave System?
Changing your email address will **not affect your existing Lightwave setup**.
Your **devices, rooms, automations, schedules and system settings** will remain in place, so there is **no need to re-pair your devices**.

### ⚠️ Changing Your Email vs Transferring Ownership
Changing your email address is **not the same as transferring ownership** of a Lightwave system.
If you are changing the email address associated with **your own account**, go to:
**Settings \> Account \> Email Address**
If you are **moving home, selling your Lightwave system or handing it over to somebody else**, you should follow the appropriate process for transferring or releasing the system instead.
