How to Calibrate Your Lightwave Dimmer for Optimal Performance
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to calibrate your dimmer using the Lightwave Link Plus app. Follow the steps below to adjust the dimming range and optimize performance for your lighting setup.
Why Should I Calibrate My Dimmer?
Calibrating your Lightwave dimmer ensures smooth dimming performance, eliminates flickering, and helps optimize compatibility with different LED bulbs. The calibration process allows you to set the minimum and maximum brightness levels, ensuring your lights operate as expected.
Note: Auto Calibration is only available on Channel 1, which is located on the far right side of the dimmer. If the dimmer you need to calibrate is on a different channel, please use the manual calibration option in the app instead.
How to Calibrate Your Dimmer Using the Lightwave Link Plus App
Follow these steps to adjust your dimmer settings through the Lightwave Link Plus app:
Step 1: Access the Calibration Settings
- Open the Lightwave Link Plus app on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Rooms section and select the dimmer you want to calibrate.
- Tap the Settings ⚙️ icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down and select Calibration under the Advanced section.
Step 2: Start the Calibration Process
- Tap Auto Calibrate Device to allow the system to detect optimal dimming levels automatically Auto Calibration is only available on Channel 1, which is located on the far right side of the dimmer. If the dimmer you need to calibrate is on a different channel, please use the manual calibration option in the app instead.
- If needed, manually adjust the dimming settings:
- Set the Minimum Brightness (%): This ensures the lights don’t flicker or turn off when dimmed low, sometimes there is a dead zone on some circuits where when dimmed low, the circuit will turn off but the dimmer will be in the Blue ON position.
- Set the Maximum Brightness (%): Adjust this to prevent overloading the bulbs, which causes flickering, to ensure a smooth dimming range. The lower the maximum brightness, the less likely the circuit will flicker.
Note: You must save the minimum and maximum brightness using the Save Values button for the settings to take effect. See the demonstration below.

Step 3: Choose the Correct Driving Mode
-
In the Calibration Menu, select your preferred Driving Mode:
- Trailing Edge (Recommended for most LEDs)
- Leading Edge (For specific types of dimmable bulbs)
-
Test the lighting performance after switching modes to find the best setting for your setup.
Step 4: Save and Test Your Settings
- After adjusting the dimmer limits, test your lights by dimming them up and down.
- If flickering persists, tweak the minimum dimming level until the issue is resolved.
- Once satisfied, exit the settings, and your dimmer will retain the new calibration values.
