How can I upgrade/replace my Link 1 (LW500 & LW930) with a Link Plus (L2)?

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to migrate from the Lightwave RF App (Connect Series) to the Link Plus app (Smart Series)

Upgrading to the Lightwave Link Plus offers enhanced functionality, including a more up-to-date app, improved automation, and greater control over your smart home system. Your hub must be a Link Plus hub and connected to the internet to ensure seamless app control however automations will run regardless of internet connectivity.

Steps to Upgrade from Lightwave Link to Link Plus:

  1. Download the Lightwave Link Plus App:

    • Search for “Lightwave Link Plus” in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

    • Download and install the app (note: it’s separate from the original LightwaveRF app).




     

  2. Add the Link Plus Hub to the app
    Once you have successfully created an account within the Lightwave Link Plus app, you will be presented with the home screen.

    To begin setup, tap the green “Link” button. The app will start scanning your local network for an available Link Plus device. During this process, a searching indicator will appear on your screen.

    If this is your first installation, the detected Link Plus will typically be the only device shown. If the app is unable to find your Link Plus automatically, you can manually add it by selecting “Add your Link manually” at the bottom of the screen. Here, you will be prompted to enter the Cloud Number found on your Link Plus device.

    Once the Link Plus hub has been detected and you’ve selected the correct cloud number in the app, the hub will begin flashing blue. When prompted by the app, press the link button located at the front of the Link Plus. After successful pairing, a confirmation message will appear in the app.

 

  1. Start the Migration Process:

    • Open the Link Plus app.

    • Tap the green plus (+) icon at the bottom of the screen.

    • Select Devices, then choose Migrate from Connect Series.

  2. Log In with Your Connect Series Credentials:

    • When prompted, log in using your existing Lightwave Connect Series login details.

  3. Import and Assign Your Devices:

    • Your current devices will appear in the app.

    • Tap each device, select its type, and assign it to a room (a “Default Room” is available).

    • Once the devices of your choice are selected, tap Import Devices in the centre of the screen.

  4. Complete the Setup:

    • The migration process takes around 5–10 minutes.

    • After completion, your devices will be fully set up under the Lightwave Link Plus system.

Note:
The Lightwave Link Plus hub will need to stay connected to the internet to provide continuous app control however, automations will run if internet connectivity is lost.
