A lot of features often go un-noticed and therefore un-utilised, this is a handy list of some of our favourites
Smart Sockets
Notifications (Leaving something turned on):
You have the option to receive notifications on your phone or tablet if you forget to turn off a device or if it consumes too much energy. You can customise the time frame for receiving these notifications, which is especially helpful for appliances that pose a safety risk or consume a lot of energy.
Popular Application: Receive notifications if you accidentally leave any heat-producing device on, such as an iron or straightener.
tip: you can pair this feature with if-do automation. This way, you'll not only receive notifications if something is left on, but you can also have the device automatically turn off on its own.
Notifications (Something is unplugged):
Receive notifications if something is unplugged from the wall outlet.
Popular Application: Receive notifications if your flatscreen TV is unplugged while you're away on holiday for added peace of mind.
Timer/Schedule:
Put any device onto a timer and have it turn on or off at a certain time every day.
Popular Application: A helpful application of the timer feature is scheduling your slow cooker to turn on at a specific time each day. Additionally, you can use this feature to control a group of lamps plugged into smart sockets, turning them on or off automatically at your desired time.
Lock Function:
You have the ability to lock individual outlets so that they cannot be manually turned on or off. This can be particularly helpful in situations where you need to restrict access to certain devices, such as gaming consoles or other electronics.
Popular Application: Lock the kids off Xbox, you can also combine this with a timer and have it lock off at a certain time every day
Energy Monitoring:
Monitor the energy consumption of any device connected to a Lightwave Socket, you can gain valuable insight into which devices are consuming the most power. This information can help you make informed decisions about how to minimise your energy usage and save money on your electricity bill.
Popular Application: Identify the most power hungry devices in your household and set timers and schedules to minimise their usage
Smart Dimmers
In addition to the features mentioned earlier, Smart Dimmers offer the same convenience. You can receive notifications if someone leaves a light on or turns it on while you're away. This is particularly helpful if you want to check on an elderly loved one's activity during the day. You can also set schedules and timers for all your lighting needs. Save money on electricity bills by ensuring lights are turned off at specific times and simulate occupancy while you're away for additional peace of mind.
The Magic Button
A magic button is a spare gang on a Lightwave device that you can use to control whatever you want within the lightwave ecosystem, it is best explained with an example.
Here you will see that Steve initially had a 1 gang dimmer in his bedroom.
With the magic button feature, Steve opted to get a 2 gang instead, this requires no extra wiring and is wired exactly the same way as the 1 gang would have been wired. The second gang gains power from the first and becomes a magic button. Steve can now use this button to control whatever he wants within the Lightwave ecosystem.
In this example, he has paired it to all of the dimmers in his house, so he has the ability to turn the entire house on/off when he goes to bed.
Popular Application 1: Use the magic button as a kill switch for the entire house, turning off all your lighting, sockets and heating to prevent accidentally leaving something turned on.
Popular Application 2: Use the magic button to control a group of Lightwave sockets. For instance, you can assign one switch to your main lounge light, and another to a selection of lamps plugged into Lightwave sockets.
Popular Application 3: Use the magic button as a mood lighting switch, allowing you to effortlessly set your lights to a preset arrangement.
Popular Application 4: Another helpful application of the magic button is for two-way switching, eliminating the need for running cables from one side of the room to the other.
Tip: This feature is not limited to just 2 gang dimmers; you can also use it with any other dimmer switch. For example, you could have a 4 gang dimmer switch and only use one gang for lighting, while the other three gangs can be used as magic buttons for controlling other devices within the Lightwave ecosystem.
