CONNECT SERIES - Why does my dimmer display the amber LED when I turn it on?
This usually indicates that the dimmer is either overloaded or that incompatible LED lamps are being used.
We recommend reducing the load by removing a few lamps from the circuit. After doing this, turn the power off at the consumer unit, then restore power and test the dimmer again.
It is also important to check our lamp compatibility guide here.
Due to the large number and variety of lamps available on the market, it is not possible for every lamp to be tested for compatibility.
As a general guideline, we recommend a maximum load of 60W–80W per gang for both one-gang and two-gang dimmers. However, results can vary depending on the specific lamps used. In some cases, loads above this range may work correctly, while in other cases even lower loads may cause issues.
For example, one manufacturer producing 8.5W lamps recommended installing no more than five lamps on a 250W dimmer. When six of these lamps (51W total) were used on a Lightwave dimmer, the dimmer did not operate correctly.
