# CONNECT SERIES - Connect Series API Documents

## This provides a comprehensive overview of the local command protocols used by the connect series generation of Lightwave devices

## What is the LightwaveRF Connect Series API?

The [Connect Series API](http://api-connect-legacy.lightwaverf.com) provides the local command protocols for Connect Series devices and Link 1 within the LightwaveRF system. Use this API to send and receive commands directly to compatible hardware on your local network.

## Which API should I use for Smart Series devices?

For Smart Series devices (Link Plus), use the [Smart Series API](https://support.lightwaverf.com/knowledge/link-plus-smart-series-api?hsLang=en) instead. The Connect Series API documented here applies only to Connect Series devices and Link 1.
