The Button Mapping feature can only be adjusted in the Lightwave app.
This option can be found in the settings tab on the relevant dimmer channel under the Advanced section.
Button Mapping determines the routing between the User Interface (Buttons and User LEDs) and the dimmer outputs (wiring) that drive the lamps.
By default, the matching buttons and LEDs are mapped to the dimmer output to keep the device layout aligned as below - you will see that channel 1 (bulb image) is aligned with the right hand channel of the dimmer which is Dimmer 1/ Primary channel of the dimmer module.
The setting allows the user to change the mapping of the dimmer output to any or many User Interfaces.
There are scenarios when de-mapping (unassigned dimmer output from all UIs) is required to allow for the use of the button independently from the dimmer’s lamp output.
If the dimmer channel is de-mapped, the Indicator LED will be OFF when not in use and will illuminate when the buttons are pressed.
The LED colour will reflect the colour coded button event type,
green-short press, red-multi-press, blue-long press.
De-mapping also enables automations to change the Indicator LED’s colour, the most common example of this would be the multi-way switching automation. The Indicator LED’s colour will be interrupted by the button event feedback with the colour coded event type.
In case a large load that exceeds the allowed power connected to a single gang needs to be simultaneously operated by the same button (UI), the load can be split to multiple output channels and the UI channel can be assigned to all relevant dimmer lamp outputs. This will control all outputs in sync with each other from the single button press (UI) channel and free up the remaining UI channels to be used for other purposes, e.g., set up scene lighting or heating controls etc.
A Good use Case is if you have a single gang dimmer you can de map the button from the output meaning will still have control of the light from the app the physical buttons will be left for remote RF control of other lightwave devices installed. This will then act as a wireless switch as a Button Event Producer assigned for other purposes.
e.g., set up scene lighting or heating controls or controlling a remote dimmer channel etc.
Note:
*Locking function applies to the UI channel that physically aligns with the dimmer output, e.g., Channel 0 lock will lock Channel 0 UI and not the mapped UI routed to Channel 0 dimmer lamp output. The locking function does apply to de-mapped UI channels too.
*AutoLED Off function does apply to de-mapped UI channels too, even if the Indicator LED is controlled by an automation remotely.
