Multi-way or two/way switching is where multiple light switches control the same lights (circuit). Traditionally and with the Connect Series dimmers, they need to be wired together for this to work. With the Smart Series dimmers the configuration is a little different but there is the added benefit of being able to do much more when grouped using the app.
Lightwave Dimmers perform 2-way or multi-way switching wirelessly. This means that they can be wired into a circuit using only a live in and switched live out, and communication between them is carried out via wireless RF frequency. Dimmers can be linked to perform multi-way switching using the ‘group’ automation feature on the Lightwave App.
How it works
As the Smart Series dimmers do not use a signal cable for multiway switching, they have to be grouped using the Link Plus app. This involves creating 2 groups, one for switch and one for brightness. Additionally, the dimmers need to know which one is the master and which one is the slave. It is best to set the master to the one which is connected to the lights (load), and the slaves should be all other dimmers on the circuit. This allows the system to identify which one is which.
This video below shows how this can be achieved.
You can now achieve 2way switching between multiple dimmers , this can all be setup from the app and no extra wiring is required.
Open the app, go to Automation, Press Add, Grouping. Here you can choose what your devices are meant to control.
