An LED lamp is unlike a traditional filament lightbulb, as it has built-in electronics. Unfortunately, as yet there are few agreed standards in the LED lighting market on how to design LED lamps. This means that different varieties of LED lamps are designed and subsequently behave differently when dimming. This has caused a problem for dimmer manufacturers who have to try to design their dimmers to work with all LED types, many of which are not even designed to be dimmable.
